A small percentage of patients suffer ongoing pain or other complications as a result of hip replacement.
Symptoms may result from problems with healing; affecting the muscles, adjacent tendons, or bones.
Occasionally the size, shape and orientation of the implants may not be a good fit - causing impingement, dislocation, clicking or a long leg.
As your hip replacement moves there is wear, and over the years this may cause problems including loosening of the fixation, or reaction in the adjacent tissues.
In some cases, after excluding common serious complications, it is not possible to pinpoint a cause for pain/discomfort.
